2020 Snowpack

The 2020 snowpack is slowly but surely starting to accumulate.  The majority of Idaho is well above average for snowfall and water index, many areas of the state are reaching 110-130%.  While the Sawtooth zone lacks a bit, we have a lot of winter days remaining.  Keep in mind last February was the highest snowfall month ever recorded on record for the Sawtooth Valley, and Sun Valley areas.  Ketchum alone received over 130 inches of the white stuff.  So if we get 50% of what we received last February…its gonna be a great rafting season! So do a little dance, pray to the snow gods and it will all work out!  We will see you on the Mighty Salmon River come this spring. White Cloud Rafting signing off….

Swift-water Safety Institute – Stanley, Idaho classes start May 13

Swift-water Safety Institute is coming to Stanley, Idaho. Summer is around the corner and these classes fill up quickly. 10 Things to Ask Before Your Rafting Trip

1. What should I wear on the raft? The short answer is it depends, the long answer is you should be prepared for everything and anything nature could throw at you. As a guest on a commercial rafting trip the circumstance are a bit different. Your outfitter should provide some basic rafting gear to ensure you have comfortable and enjoyable rafting trip. It is recommended that you confer with your outfitter to check what will be provided on your trip. Typically on a day trip we recommend our guest wear non-cotton clothing, synthetic materials and wool materials are preferred as these materials dry faster, wick away water and insulate help heat your body when wet.
